Six Sigma certification pathways differ in their requirements, assessment and credential issuer. Choose a pathway that fits your experience and the expectations of your employer before choosing a preparation course.
What should you compare?
Check the exact credential name and belt level, the current body of knowledge, eligibility requirements, examination format, project requirements, total cost and renewal rules. Avoid relying on broad rankings such as the most recognised or easiest credential. Employer preferences vary.
ASQ
The American Society for Quality offers Six Sigma credentials. Its Certified Six Sigma Green Belt currently requires three years of relevant paid work experience, with no education waiver. Other ASQ credentials have their own rules, so check the specific certification page rather than assuming every belt has the same requirements.

CSSC
The Council for Six Sigma Certification publishes certification pathways and learning resources. Review the exact level and pathway you intend to take, including its current assessment and any project requirements. A claim about one pathway should not be applied to every CSSC credential.

IASSC and PeopleCert
IASSC is part of PeopleCert. Use the current PeopleCert Lean Six Sigma certification pages for the available belt levels, examination requirements and renewal policies. Older descriptions of IASSC as a separate organisation may be outdated.

How to choose a preparation course
Request a syllabus mapped to your selected credential and current examination version. Confirm the training language, practice activities, project support and whether an official examination voucher is included. Practical improvement work is useful alongside exam preparation: define a measurable problem, examine the process and evaluate the result.
