The PMP exam changed in July 2026. If you are preparing now, start by comparing your study materials with PMI’s current Exam Content Outline, then use scenario practice to address the gaps. Do not assume that an older course becomes current simply because its title includes 2026.

This guide combines a brief official update with an original study worksheet from GREEZA Academy & Consultancy, LLC. Information checked on 2 October 2026.

What changed in the PMP exam?

PMI says the updated exam gives greater attention to AI, sustainability, stakeholder engagement and business value. The domain weights are People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. These changes make it especially useful to practise explaining why a project decision supports the organisation’s objectives.

PMI also announces changes to eligible live training from 1 December 2026. Check its current rules for your delivery format and completion date before paying for a course. How do you check whether your materials are current?

Create a simple gap worksheet with four columns: topic, evidence in your materials, practice result and next action. Use the current official outline as the topic list. For each item, record a chapter, lesson or exercise that actually teaches it. A mention in a sales description is weaker evidence than a worked example and feedback.

Mark a topic green when you can explain it and apply it to an unfamiliar situation. Use amber when you recognise the terminology but cannot justify a decision. Use red when it is missing from your materials. This is a suggested learning aid, not a PMI scoring method or a prediction of your exam result.

How can you practise AI and business-value scenarios?

Try this fictional workplace exercise: a service team proposes an AI assistant to draft customer responses. The sponsor wants a quick launch, but the team has not agreed how to check factual accuracy or protect customer information.

Write a short decision note answering five questions. What customer problem are we solving? What evidence establishes the current problem? Who must review the proposed use? What small test could reduce uncertainty? What would make us stop or change the pilot?

Compare two options rather than assuming that adopting AI is automatically the right answer. A smaller process change might solve the same problem with less complexity. Explain your reasoning in terms of evidence, stakeholders and expected outcomes. This exercise is original practice material, not an official exam question.

How can you build a four-week study cycle?

Week 1: map your materials to the outline, identify your weakest areas and complete a diagnostic practice session. Record the reason for each mistake, such as a missed constraint, an unfamiliar concept or a rushed reading of the question.

Week 2: study the weakest areas in focused sessions. After each session, explain a concept without looking at the notes, then apply it to a different workplace situation.

Week 3: combine topics in scenario practice. For each answer, explain why the alternatives are less suitable in that particular context. Avoid learning slogans that you apply to every situation.

Week 4: practise under realistic time constraints, review recurring errors and check your examination arrangements. Extend the cycle if your understanding remains uneven. Four weeks is an example planning structure, not a promise that every learner can become ready in that time.

What should you ask a training provider?

Ask which exam outline the course follows, when the materials were reviewed, what scenario practice is included and who answers learner questions. Request written details of training hours, completion evidence, access duration, assessment and separate examination fees. Confirm eligibility directly with PMI.

For learners in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE or elsewhere, also confirm session times, teaching language and the availability of suitable examination arrangements. Location alone does not establish whether a course meets the credential owner’s requirements.

What are the most common questions?

Can I still use older notes? They may help with underlying concepts, but compare them with the current outline and supplement missing material.

Does completing a preparation course award the PMP? No. Training completion and the professional certification are different; PMI controls its application, examination and certification process.

Should I choose a course only because it is short? Choose according to your learning gaps, the quality of practice and the support available. A compressed schedule is useful only if you can do the required learning.
